Lismore Dance Band

LismoreCeilidhBand_03.jpg

The Lismore dance band plays music for Scottish dancing.

They were founded and are led by Mairi Campbell, fiddler.  The band started in 2022 after Covid to help sustain community spirit and revive the great tradition of dancing on this island.  Our aim is to become an excellent dance band in the tradition of the great West coast players, and to lessen the financial risk of bringing in an outside band.

In 2023 the Lismore Dance Band was nominated for community project of the Year at Na Trads.

We organise a Winter and Spring series of dances every year.

Dances are called if required and this is the repertoire to expect:

Gay Gordons; Military two -step; Strip the willow; Dashing white sergeant; Canadian barn dance; Eva three step; Eightsome reel; St Bernards waltz; Virginia Reel; Highland Schottishe.
